The places in Kel's World
Crell |
Kel's homeland. The capital is also called Crell and has a large citadel where King Edred lives. Kel's people, the Woodlanders, live in clearings in the woodlands on the edges of the Forest of Durrant to the north of the country, towards the border with Brotland. |
Keralyia |
A northern land of mountains and forests with a cold, north-facing rugged coastline. Home of the warlike Zagroz, the Grey Lord. |
Lasheen |
Setting for the second book, The Dragon Key. |
Tregoria |
Lies between Crell and Anconnu, mostly swamp and marshland with a range of hills on the border between it and Anconnu. |
Anconnu |
Literally "Unknown" - has a wild and rugged sea coast and a range of hills between it and the rest of the continent. |
Fatangh |
An island country off the north-west coast of the main continent, |
Brotland |
A small, fertile, land-locked country between Crell and Keralyia. |
Malarat |
A cold northern country of pine forests, wide open steppes and frozen tundra. |
Garamond |
Kel's world's westernmost country, bounded by the ocean on three sides and with forests and swamps separating it from Malarat on the fourth side. |
Jerann |
An island country, separated from Anconnu by a dangerous strait with high cliffs and turbulent seas with whirlpools. Jerann is only accessible by foot (or horse) from the mainland a few times a year, when at extremely low tides a causeway appears for just a few hours before disappearing under the incoming tide again. |
Sundraban |
A land of hot steamy jungles and, in the south, beautiful tropical beaches. |
Megalos |
Fertile land and a pleasant climate make Megalos the home of one of the oldest civilizations in Kel's world. Three large offshore islands are also part of Megalos. |
Planesia |
This is a land of contrasts - to the interior of the continent is a vast, hot desert but two large rivers bring much-needed water to the south and give rise to fertile farmland, woodland and eventually coastal swamps. |
